Question by : Tattoo machine needle “getting stuck” in skin. any professional tattoo artists that can help?
My friend is a professional tattoo artist who has been teaching me the past year. I got my own machine a year ago too. she moved two days ago and is unreachable at the moment. Last night when I was giving myself a tattoo the needle was “sticking” into my skin so that I couldnt glide over the outline easily like I normally do. I couldnt glide over the outline at all. It would keep sticking into me. Machine seems fine. Needle wasnt bent anywhere. I’m certainly not a professional so I only do tats on myself, but I have never come across a problem before. Suggestions?

Some needles that are new may be defective, if you look under a scope you can see the metal may not have been forged to perfection and a there may be a small hook of metal at the tip. This is very common and can cause “sticking” or just tearing up of the skin when a tattoo is being done
