Rock and Roll All Night with Kiss Band Costumes

When Kiss exploded onto the American glam rock scene in the mid 1970s, there was no way to know that this iconic band would still be admired and emulated four decades later. The band was known just as much for their elaborate face paint and studded leather costumes as for their flamboyant stage shows that included spectacular pyrotechnics and the fire breathing, blood spitting antics of lead singer Gene Simmons. It is not wonder that Kiss band costumes are still popular to this day.
The four characters represented by the band are The Demon (Gene Simmons), Starchild (Paul Stanley), Spaceman (Ace Frehley) and Catman (Peter Criss). The basic costumes feature lots of black leather and silver studs. The musicians were also famous for the towering platform boots that gave them such a commanding presence on stage.
All four costumes are built around a simple black bodysuit usually made of a nylon and spandex blend to allow for easy movement. Various accessories are then added to distinguish the characters. Many versions of the Demon costume include a vest with attached bat wings while the costume worn by the Starchild is adorned with rhinestone studded stars. The Spaceman costume is recognized by the silver shoulder discs and lightning bolts. The Catman outfit features lots of silver trim and oval cut outs located in the upper thigh area.
No Kiss band costume is complete without the proper face makeup. The four different characters can be recreated with ordinary cream makeup but an even easier way to get the right look is with temporary tattoo kits that take just minutes to apply.

3 Cool Ways to Use Your Halloween Costumes and Stuff All Year
Halloween costumes are not necessarily just for Halloween anymore, especially when you’re talking about sexy costumes, Goth costumes, or party supplies. There are tons of ways to reuse those expensive items to extend their value.
My son taught me this lesson a couple of years ago. He was ten, and he had a real hankering to get a Goth or Punk costume, presumably to make him feel like a “big boy”…and of course, cool! I had no problem with this, and we set out to find the perfect Gothic look.
Let me tell you, there was no shortage in the stores and online. Goth was everywhere you looked. So he quickly settled on an uber-cool torn up red and black jacket with chains. It wasn’t the best made piece of clothing in the world, but it wasn’t the worst either. Next thing I knew, even though Halloween was still a month away, he was wearing it to school, getting tons of positive attention from his awe-struck friends. It was adorable.
The moral of this tale is – you guessed it – if you shop smart, you can use your costume for something other than frightening little kids with candy bags.
That whole ordeal got me thinking about other ways to use the great stuff I fall in love with in the stores every October. Since then, I shop for Halloween items in a whole new way.
Here are some examples:
Sexy Costumes
One of the most obvious alternate uses for costumes is lingerie. I’m sure we’ve all noticed the recent (and growing) trend in women’s costumes to be sexier and sexier. Many of the costumes border on indecent to start with, but even the less revealing or suggestive of them can be used in role play between consenting adults.
Popular ones include Catholic School Girl Costumes, Sailor Costumes, Alice in Wonderland, and variations on the Disney characters, like the Disney Snow White Costume. Seductive Vampires work really well too, especially considering the popularity of the Twilight series.
Wigs are also great costume accessories to use in love play. If it’s a high enough quality wig, you can wear it out for a night on the town as well.
Gothic Costumes
Take a page out of my son’s book and consider some of the various Gothic costumes and accessories for year round, if you’re into that sort of thing. They really pull out all the stops in October when it comes to stuff like that, and you can really find some neat items that stores don’t normally carry. Some of them are even of decent or good quality.
Chokers, spiked leather accessories, gothic belts, wicked-looking jewelry, temporary tattoos, platform shoes, boots. They always have quite a number of interesting jackets and dresses that can do double duty in your closet. And don’t forget the wigs! The key with using a costume in your wardrobe is to make sure you don’t get the same one EVERYONE is wearing for trick-or-treating, and to accessorize to make your piece unique. During this time, stores also carry a much bigger selection of things like unusual hair color and stick-on body and nail decorations.
Other Accessories
Another type of Halloween item you can re-purpose is party supplies and decorations. It may sound cheesy at first, but if you think about it they have some pretty neat products that, when removed from the rest of the whole Halloween atmosphere, can stand alone in a unique way.
You can really make a statement with the right gothic style glassware or serving dish. People also tend to produce a lot of Victorian pieces for Halloween. If you shop in the right places, usually online or in specialty Halloween stores that are only in business for a couple of months out of the year, you can find some pretty surprising things — lamps, dishes, serving pieces, curtains, chandeliers, trinkets, figurines, and more.
I hope this Halloween you will alter the way you look at Halloween items. Try to imagine them in another light. Picture what you could do with them AFTER October 31st. I’ll bet you’ll even come up with ideas I haven’t thought of.

One of the most popular (for good reason!) is the Catholic school girl costume.
For sexy plus size costumes, you can’t beat the ULTRA HOT plus size sailor costume!
Another recommendation: The right wig goes a long way! Sometimes, although we have perfectly nice-looking hair, it’s nice to take a step away from ourselves for fantasy’s sake. Wigs can be an inexpensive way to make a huge statement.
But make sure you get a wig cap. They are ultra-cheap, but can be the difference between a cheap-looking wig and a realistic looking one.
Accessories for halloween costumes
Pirate costumes are a very popular choice when it comes to fancy dress, but what are the best accessories to go with them?
Not every buccaneer had a wooden leg, an eye patch and a parrot perched on his shoulder. With a little bit of research and some imaginative thinking you can soon come up with some far more original ideas than that.
Let’s start with jewellery for instance. Anyone wearing pirate costumes are, essentially, villains. You want to show your badness in your overall appearance. You want people to know that you are a rebel and that you have no time for decency or convention. A display of nose-rings, earrings and tattoos will go brilliantly with your new ‘bad boy’ image. Don’t worry; I am not trying to talk you into desecrating your face and body just for the sake of a fancy dress party. If you get on the internet and have a look at some websites you will soon find a choice of hundreds of clip-on facial piercings. Likewise, there is a huge selection of temporary tattoos that would go perfectly with any pirate costumes. There is no need to be concerned about looking too nasty, swashbucklers have a natural charm.
The golden rule, when thinking about any accessories to go with your outfit is to ‘think bad’. You want people to be wary of you. You are a buccaneer and a criminal. Dress in a rugged and ‘ready for trouble’ style. Anyone remembering this when they are choosing which accessories to go with their pirate costumes are almost certainly onto a winner.
Another possibility is a bandanna. Many a swashbuckler has worn one of these over the years and they still look cool today. Maybe you even have an old scarf or piece of material lying around somewhere that could be used.
Beads worn in small plaits or dreadlocks can look really good with pirate costumes. Think about Captain Jack Sparrow in the popular series of adventure films. There are a lot of accessories that you might pick up for next to nothing. Again, use your imagination. What about hanging some old-fashioned looking keys from your belt on a piece of wire or string? Or perhaps you could get hold of an old pocket-watch chain to wear along with your waistcoat? There are all sorts of little touches that can be added to your outfit that will make it look so much more authentic. Even small things such as wearing a couple of leather strips (perhaps old boot laces) on your wrist can make all the difference.
Having a look at pictures of pirates from films and television can also give you some good ideas. Spending a little time on your computer could be rewarding and save you a lot of frustration.
If you really do find it difficult to think of anything to go with your outfit then try checking the websites of some fancy dress suppliers. Companies that sell pirate costumes usually tend to have a very good selection of bits and pieces to go with them.
